Barstow Youth Sports Coalition
Mission Statement
The principal function of the Barstow Youth Sports Coalition (BYSC) is to serve as advocates for our independent youth sports organizations at city council and Measure Q committee meetings. Our mission is to defend and, with the active support of our parents, increase the city’s commitment to the funding of all youth sports in Barstow.
In the interim, the BYSC will seek to create a sustainable vision that provides and enhances athletic opportunities for the youth of our unique and robust community. That vision will entail coordinating with city officials for the creation of future facilities, the care and maintenance of existing facilities, and the purchase and acquisition of equipment. Furthermore, the BYSC will ensure that the city maintains safe and adequate facilities. At all times, the BYSC will develop and promote an environment of sportsmanship and teamwork for our athletes, our coaches and our parents.
Where feasible, the BYSC will conduct fund-raising events for the benefit of its member organizations and to increase contingency funds for use by the member organizations in the event of unforeseen shortages or emergencies. At no time will the BYSC infringe upon the daily functions of its member organizations, the execution of their by-laws or in any dispute, unless invited to act as mediators or, in special circumstances, as arbitrators.
The Barstow Youth Sports Coalition will act as ONE voice, with ONE mission, to fulfill ONE dream: the betterment of our youth.
